FDANZ has developed a handy guide which makes it easy for us to give you an estimate.
Pre-paying for all or part of your funeral service helps to relieve your family and loved ones of the responsibility of the funeral expenses. Pre-paid funerals up to $10,000 are currently excluded from asset testing when assessing eligibility for a subsidy for long term residential care for the elderly.
The is a prepayment plan available through members of Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand (FDANZ) . Pre-paid funeral funds are held in trust, and may be accessed by any FDANZ member firm.

The FDANZ Funeral Trust is a secure way to pre-pay for your funeral. This Trust has been established by FDANZ to assist anyone to make arrangements for their funeral, or the funeral of another person such as a family member.

The FDANZ Funeral Trust is not an insurance policy. No health checks or personal questions are needed. Anyone can pre-arrange or pre-pay for a funeral with an FDANZ Funeral Director through the FDANZ Funeral Trust. You do not have to pre-pay in a single payment. If it suits you better, you can arrange to pay in easy instalments, from $20 a fortnight.
